Neighborhood Emergency Survival Training (20 hour)
  • Disaster Preparedness: Introduction into basic disaster preparedness including an overview of types of disaster, emergency response personnel, local hazards and creating your emergency kit.
  • Medical Operations: Differing from a standard first aid course, disaster medical operations teaches you the necessary techniques to respond quickly to large number of victims impacted. Learn how to conduct triage, establish treatment areas and assist victims.
  • Light Search & Rescue: Through hands-on activities, you will learn how to safely enter and search mild to moderately damaged structures structures damaged by disasters to locate and retrieve victims.
  • Fire Suppression: In addition to learning about the proper use of fire extinguishers and extinguishing live fires, you will learn about basic fire chemistry and types of extinguishers used.
  • Team Organization: Apply the skills of NEST Training in an organized fashion by learning about how to effectively employ the Incident Command System (ICS) and lead groups of trained and untrained individuals to efficiently and appropriately conduct disaster response activities..
  • Disaster Simulation: Respond to a simulated disaster utilizing the techniques of all the NEST Training modules.

Disaster Preparedness training provides you  the skills to care for your family and loved ones in the event of an emergency.
First responders will be unavailable to assist you for the first hours and even days after a major disaster.
